POST 3- A MAIL TO THE CBSE

Here is a mail of mine to CBSE (ce.cbse2014@gmail.com; directoracad.cbse@nic.in) fighting against the cruelty of exam-setters for our math paper!

ir/Madam,
Mathematics is a skill which can only be improved through experience. Such experience cannot be gained in even 15 years (my age), let alone be a year (2015-16), or term (term 2)!!!
In such cases, we students can only hope to solve previous year question papers and NCERT questions to face the claws of Board Examinations. This is what we did. However, to our extreme disappointment, the paper-setters have failed us by not being able to understand our needs or the fact that we can't solve Mathematics for the entire day.
For example, question 27 in set-A/question 26 in set-B/question 22 in set-C has been taken from NCERT Textbook- Optional Exercise 5.4 ("The houses in a row" problem). The last line (footnote) of the exercise CLEARLY STATES- "NOT FROM THE EXAMINATION POINT OF VIEW" Then how can you expect us to know this question. CBSE has clearly deceived us.
The message has already spread to CBSE students, throughout the country and it continues to do so.
Time-Limit: Yet another issue in the mathematics examination is the time-limit. The examination setters, who are experts in Mathematics, believe that what they can do in 3 hours is possible for all students. This is obviously wrong. CBSE, which is a highly reputed organization needs to understand the needs of all sorts of students- week/strong/studious/mischievous!!!
Looks like we 10th standard students weren't the only once disappointed...you would have surely felt the anger of 12th standard students!!!
I expect improvement in CBSE apart from expecting lenient correction and free marks in the above mentioned question
Thank You,
Yours sincerely,
    A Student (that's me!)

POST 2- IS IT POSSIBLE FOR US STUDENTS TO IMPROVE THE SYSTEM?

IS IT POSSIBLE FOR US STUDENTS TO IMPROVE THE SYSTEM?
Yes!!! It is possible only for us to improve the system. As I’ve told previously, the education system in  today’s world is like business and thus no one but students and loving parents would want to change it. I’ve devised a plan to make this possible…

  1.  Get as many people to join the movement by asking them to like my Facebook (Account- TheStudent Misery, Page- https://www.facebook.com/StudentMisery-1778436975718368/), Twitter (Account- @student_misery) and contacting me through Gmail (studentmisery@gmail.com), Blog (http://studentmisery.blogspot.in/).
  2. Assign leaders for every state and make the movement more organized and systematic
  3. Create THE IDEAL EDUCATION SYSTEM using suggestions and voting. What we create can change the future of India (if not of the world!). So this must be done carefully.
  4. Promote the system- students will go to their respective schools and ask them to adopt this system. We will organize movements to make the Education Department to concede to our demands
  5. We will ensure that the system works as planned.

So, this week, all of you must join the movement and ask your friends (through social media) to do the same. Only then will the movement work.

POST 1- Why is our education system wrong?

Dear Friend,
Ever wondered that our Education System is completely wrong? That this system gives the gift of stress and pain? Well I agree with you! Let me show you how the system is wrong

WHY IS OUR EDUCATION SYSTEM WRONG?
Here are some facts:
  • Knowledge is something that is meant to establish peace and harmony in the minds of the pupils. Is this happening? NO. About 2,471 students being pressurized by the education system ended their life, considering death as a better option than receiving education.
  • In ancient India, it was considered the responsibility of the knowledgeable ones to teach others. They never expected any salary and this selflessness of theirs helped produce the perfect student. Is this happening today? NO. The education system has become a business. Many reputed organizations demand even 5 lakhs for education. Then how can the system be correct? A selfish teacher gives rise to selfish students!
  • Examinations were meant to just test what the student had learnt throughout the year. If the teacher found that his student is weak, he would sit with the student and help him. In today’s world, examinations are the very basis of studies.
  • Theoretically, there is no way with which the intelligence of a person can be measured. How then can we consider marks as our intelligence and the basis of life?
  • To sum up- The knowledge and education obtained these days is like a train ticket. Teachers can be compared to the ticket office who gives you some ‘knowledge’, exams are like ticket collectors, and your destination is- ‘A Job and Money’!!!
